One of my goals for the new year is to read more books. Even though I can struggle with getting as many books in as humanly possible, I’m still able to take away from the good gems I do find. My latest read is Just As I Am by Cicely Tyson and it’s particularly relevant given that we are now in Black History Month.

You’ve probably heard it all before. “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know”. If you’ve really been in on the game you’ve probably also heard, “it’s not what you know, but who knows you”. There are networking tips that stand the test of time and it can be difficult to jump in and get your feet wet when you don’t know what you’re doing… yet.

If there is one thing I can be 100% sure of it’s that good things are on the way to me. Time and time again I have seen how even in the most challenging and strange circumstances things have always worked out in my favor.

If you’ve been following and reading these blog posts, you’ll know that I’ve been trying to develop more trust with myself and my decisions. A part of that is practicing healthy habits and being intentional about the things I do. One of those things I wanted to focus on was creating more experiences for myself and getting out more.

There’s a lot that goes into trying to make content and it can be draining, but also exciting. I started writing and creating in 2013 and a lot has changed since then…

So I just turned 26 and I am obviously accepting the fact that my 30’s are looming ahead (on that note, please remember to live in the present so you don’t go down rabbit holes). I am also accepting the fact that it’s okay to live life out loud and present the highest version of myself.

So after 6 months I wrapped up my last therapy session and I am so proud of how far I’ve come. I didn’t think that therapy was something that could really be accessible to me, but I am happy that I took out the time to prioritize me.

One thing we have to do in life is learn how to work with difficult people. Whether it’s a family member, friend, colleague, etc. we have to be able to make sure we can accomplish our goals and tasks. In my own personal experience there are certain people who will act harshly either because they don’t care or they have nothing to lose. In other cases it could be something deeper than that like maybe projecting an insecurity. So how do we deal with people who may have difficult personalities, how do we know when someone may be projecting and what does America’s Next Top Model have to do with any of this?

A quarter-life crisis is something that’s unique to people in their mid twenties to early and one of thirties. Life can quickly become tricky and one of the trickiest things to figure out is the future. What happens when our future is unclear and we begin questioning the the things we’ve been taught are the “right things to do”?
