There’s a lot that goes into trying to make content and it can be draining, but also exciting. I started writing and creating in 2013 and a lot has changed since then…
I remember the first time I ever wrote anything to share online. My first blog, Twinlyme, was very reflective of where I was at the time. I was in high school and I was getting passionate about the new things I was learning, my faith, and writing in general. I remember having high hopes of writing for someone’s blog or website and while that didn’t happen, I know that I was able to do a lot of cool things for myself.
I’m learning how to deal with social media pressure.
I think as a small content creator, it can be difficult to resist feeling like I’m shouting into a void or just sharing things that no one will see. With social media being what it is now, it’s easy to feel pressure. Pressure to blow up. Pressure to go viral. Pressure to get big! What I have to do for myself is remember why I started writing. I wanted to motivate other people. I wanted to help other people understand themselves and know that they weren’t alone.
We all have our place to carve out in the world, and what we have to offer as individuals is so unique and special. We have to remember that even impacting one person in a positive way is important. I shared some of these thoughts in my most recent YouTube video. Be sure to subscribe for more insightful and uplifting content!
So here I am almost 10 years after first writing any blog post and there is a small part of me that has asked, “what do you have to show for it”. Full disclosure: If I’m not motivating myself and actively building myself up it’s easy to start being overly critical of myself. It’s easy to preach patience, commitment, and focus when you have already made it to the finish line and found that success that you’ve always wanted. When it’s been almost 10 years…. that can feel nearly impossible.
Everyone has to start somewhere.
The biggest names out in the world didn’t start off being successful. They too had to work, be patient and wait for their moment to shine. In the same way, we have to be dedicated to ourselves and be patient. I know it’s hard. Trust me, I know. Those dreams you’ve had, those ideas you’ve been sitting on, they are important and worthy of being seen. What we can’t do is stop before we get to our breakthrough. We can’t stop before we’ve even made it to the finish line.
There may be 1000 people doing what you do, but the difference is you! You have your own way of doing things. No one can be you. Period!
You have to believe in your gifts and talents.
You have to choose yourself and stay true to your purpose.
You have to keep going, because you could help people in ways you can’t even imagine!

a meaningful message…well written with insights for acceptance of self
Love your message about being you. It’s a common thing in writing too, to think that what you’re doing has been done before, but there’s only one of you, so even if your story’s already been written, it’s probably not been told YOUR way. Thanks for this post!
Thanks for commenting and I’m glad you liked the post. We have to keep being ourselves no matter what.
